Lynne Spears is not happy with the way the world attacked her and daughter Jamie Lynn, 17, over the teen’s pregnancy, and celebrated that of Bristol Palin, the 17-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin. Jamie Lynn is now mom to 3-month-old daughter Maddie and engaged to the baby’s dad, and Lynne is promoting her book, “Through the Storm.” She sat down for a Q&A with Newsweek to promote the book, and eventually the talk turned to the Palins.

Q: You and Jamie Lynn got some negative press when she got pregnant so young. But more recently, 17-year-old Bristol Palin, and her mother, Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, found themselves in a similar situation. And the public reaction has been different.

A: It’s a totally different reaction. It’s as if [Sarah Palin] became celebrated. I mean, the mother, Palin, was celebrated for this. Every woman in the world has applauded her strength and her convictions and poor little old Jamie Lynn — you saw how she was crucified. Everybody did, firsthand … I just feel like it’s been a very hypocritical situation.

every one has their own opinions but i think that Jamie Lynn has been extremely strong and so independent throughout her pregnancy and becoming a new mum. She has shown to the world that she can think for her self not depend on other people and she did all that with the press and haters laughing and judging her .
yes she might of made a mistake but we all do, but she has show many people old and young that no matter what situation you may be facing you can always get through it. Maybe if Jamie Lynn didn’t have Maddie she wouldn’t of so close o Britney this baby has brought there whole family closer, and because of Jamie Lynn she has given me the heart to help other young mums out there.
Jamie Lynn has made me think about thing in perspective she is an awesome girl who I know has got an amazing future

I think because their was this big celebrity baby boom ealier this year, it became almost trendy (weird) and teen pregnancy was becoming glamorized with movies like Juno and then people heard about JL and the 17 gloucester teens on the news. That another teen pregnancy just wasn’t as much as a shocker anymore because the sad reality is teen pregnancy is so common now. Sorry Lynne feels this way but Jamie lynn was pregnant during the baby boom, during the popularity of juno, and during the time news started reporting an expansion of teen pregnancies. Life can be unfair…but it’s always been like that.
